Body Contouring

The aim of body contouring surgery is to re-shape and realign the skin and soft tissues of the body to restore and enhance appearance. Surgery may involve removal of excess skin, subcutaneous fat and tightening of underlying muscles.

After pregnancy, many women are still left with excess skin and subcutaneous tissue around the abdomen despite exercise and a healthy lifestyle. This can be uncomfortable making some clothes difficult to wear. Sometimes the abdominal muscles will have been separated and no amount of exercise will be able to tighten them. In these cases the abdominal muscles can be surgically tightened, helping provide definition to the waist and improving the aesthetic result.

The same surgical principles can be used for shaping the arms (brachioplasty) and legs (thigh lift) especially after significant weight loss. This can be after lifestyle changes or bariatric surgery. Massive weight loss (MWL) can result in uncomfortable and unsightly skin folds that can be removed surgically, restoring shape and improving patients’ self-confidence.

Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) reduces the size of large or heavy breasts. At the same time, the breasts are-shaped, uplifting them to create small more aesthetically pleasing breasts. For most patients however, the most important outcomes are the improvement of back or neck ache, less sweating, fewer skin problems, and greater self-confidence from taking part in more physical activity than was possible before.
